If I understand it correct, in all cases for you, you are using virtual machines? Then the other lead would be the virtualization or a specific hypervisor. I would be interested to see if this happens only in Plasma or in other desktops as well? So far it seems a different issue than this one here. The first thing to establish would be if that is config issue. If not, do some tests on various virtual machines with various supervisors and desktops.
