As shown by the backtrace, the crash happens deep within uim so your best bet
is to file a bug report on their issue tracker.
As far as I see, uim is only available via AUR, which means you would have
built the package yourself at some point. You need to rebuild the package with
debug symbols in order to get a more detailed backtrace. Doing this is
encouraged if you do plan on filing the bug report upstream.
As to why you can't switch input methods with the AppImage, IIRC our AppImage
only contains the im modules for ibus and fcitx, but not uim. We can probably
look into adding it, but this should be tracked as a separate issue.
