That feature has been available for a very long time,
Settings -> Configure Konversation -> Behaviour -> General Behaviour [x]
Enable System Tray.
In addition you can also configure konversation to mark the taskbar entry for
certain events, e.g. a highlight, which makes this visible without needing a
tray icon.
