I suppose there are 2 possibilities: (i) If the crash is a result of the "fix" and now crashes instead then bug is not fixed. (ii) Crash is unrelated, so cannot tell if the bug is fixed or not yet (bad build, new bug, etc). Either way, until it stops crashing we cannot tell which of the 2 is happening.
