Something is indeed wrong there, my first attempt just crashed (asserted)
promptly at layersplit.cpp:195 when trying to access a KisNodeSP, following
attempts did convert the colorize mask to a paint layer but then left Krita
with overridden cursor and stuck progress bar although the operation aborted.
Looking at the code, there's several places where the function just plain
returns without cleaning up, so it's no surprise Krita can end up in a broken
state.
