I use SMPlayer for videos and QMMP for audio files. Both can play remote files on SMB shared folders without issues. Those SMB folders are in servers or local Windows PC inside a Windows domain (DC). Dolphin ask me for credentials each time I open any shared file for the very first time on a Linux desktop session.
