You shouldn't need either the Bluetooth connection nor the USB connection. Simply being connected to the same router/wifi network is sufficient. I don't have this issue on Fedora Silverblue 35 (w/GSConnect) and my Pixel 6. Seems to work as intended. Could be an issue with the way you are connecting or with the Windows version of KDEConnect.
