That's extremely strange, and I cannot reproduce the issue.
Are you saying that the text field is not focused by default? It is supposed to
be.
1. Is it fixed in Plasma 5.24.1?
2. Do you have any non-default input methods applied?
3. Does work if you temporarily switch to English?
