I was suffering all the kind of weird bugs connected to multi monitor. This bug seems to be gone, though it happened once that the wallpaper was not shown, but the desktop was in place with icons and the possibility to interact with it. I couldn't reproduce it. Other minor bug: If a screen is attached or detached when "Display configuration" is open the screen positions in the config dialog are messed up.
