I indeed have polkit installed. If I just restart plasmashell I do not get any
useful errors, but if I remove taskmanager and readd it to the panel I get the
same message as you (together with some semi related things next to it):

adding "org.kde.plasma.taskmanager"
This plugin does not support setting window opacity
So at least I think it's not polkit.
