Yes, there is a way to force that.
Open file "~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc". Find section
with "plugin=org.kde.plasma.private.systemtray" - it is possible that you have
several such sections if you have system tray configured in panels. Change
formfactor to 3.
Example:
