Yes you right. For some languages it will be hard to do . But for Russian it is quite easy. We have only 2 actual letters which does not have sound at all it is 'Ъ' and 'ь'. But for only two letters it is much easier to tell children how to read it instead of whole alphabet. Well i created such report at least to start a discussion notice what kind of issues appear. And to try to find good solution for as more as possible languages. To be realistic letter names usage in real world quite limited . In my mind i have only alphabet organized catalogues like phonebook and dictionaries. I not have any another real example where it used. So in my opinion real sounds is more important to know.
