Bug ID: 446417 Summary: network printer will not be added despite being discoverable. Product: systemsettings Version: 5.23.4 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: kcm_printer_manager Assignee: dantt...@gmail.com Reporter: josezarco...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have a Brother printer, a MFC-L2700DW to be specific. when GUI to add the printer, it gets discovered in the wizard, but when the wizard is finished, the printer does not get added. and does not show in the GUI. Trying to print with okular, gives me the option to print with the printer even before trying to add the printer, tho the printer name does not match exactly (some underscores replacing spaces and other differences like that), so i assume it is not the one i tried to add, specially since trying to use that printer does nothing. the same happens in the system print menu. I tried this in bot my laptop: running Manjaro desktop: running EndevourOS On my laptop, I had the same problem, but when I connected it to the printer USB, i got it automatically added and even working trough the network, no configuration required. Cant physically connect the desktop via USB... STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open system settings 2. go to printers (should be empty) 3. click on add a printer 4. Select under discovered network printer 'Brother MFC-L2700DW series' 5. Select under recommended drivers 'Brother MFC-L2700DW series, driverless, cups-filters 1.28.10 (en)' 6. next and finish. OBSERVED RESULT the printer does not get added nor shown in the GUI, nor is accessible in any printing panel (only the ghost printer mentioned before) EXPECTED RESULT the printer gets added with the name specified on the wizard and is accessible trough okular, firefox, and system print menu SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION kernel: 5.15.5-zen-1-1-zen (64 bits) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
