Bug ID: 445340 Summary: Laptop Doesn't Seem to Sleep Properly Product: neon Version: unspecified Platform: Neon Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org Reporter: w.bill.co...@gmail.com CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Running Neon on a Lenovo W530 here is the system report: Operating System: KDE neon 5.23 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Kernel Version: 5.11.0-40-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 23.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4000 I have the system power settings to put the laptop to sleep whenever the lid is closed (battery, power, etc.) When I close the lid, Lenovo nicely has an external indicator on the case that shows the machine is asleep. The indicator comes on whenever I close the lid. HOWEVER It seems that the computer is still doing something while it is "asleep." Yesterday, in 3 hours of sleep the battery charge declined 45% and machine was quite warm. This morning, I lost 12% battery in less than a half hour of "sleep." I just installed a new battery this week and the battery health reads 100%. I am not sure if this was happening with Plasma versions prior to 5.23, but the issue certainly seemed less pronounced. The first time I actually noticed it was about 2 weeks ago. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Close laptop lid with power setting of "sleep" 2. Leave for some period of time on battery power only 3. Observe battery power OBSERVED RESULT Battery usage that is similar to the machine in use. EXPECTED RESULT Little to no battery usage.
