When it comes to step 3a: the issue happened within Konqueror: I only attempted to update the keybindings within the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts window in Konqueror and then after clicking apply noticed the keybindings were not registering at all as having changed, restarting the application or not. I tried to change the modifier key on most of the shortcuts. For instance, most of the Mod keys on Konqueror appear to be Control keys whereas I tend to use the Super key as my Mod key, so I went through and edited the keys to reflect that; one clear example was changing access to the Home page from Alt+Home to Super+Home and just not having that register at all. Hopefully this can help a little bit.
