After 48 hurs it Seems fixed with upgrade to 5.22.5 or new intel video driver.
(both were on the upgrade lot).
I cannot know which brought the fix...
Also did the following modification of xorg.conf prior to the update for the
Intel drivers.
Section "Module"
Load "modesetting"
