despite top layer hidden, the canvas still displays the layer

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. updated to latest nightly build Krita-prealpha-5dcb6e29a0 from
prealpha-8ac346a257

OBSERVED RESULT
No changes appear, layer remains the same despite not being locked
However changes appear in the file overview
EXPECTED RESULT
Changes to appear to top layer inc. brush strokes, hiding the layer, moving the
layer down
