Thanks to have reported this bug, I've also seen exactly the same things.
There was one time a notification about not being able to open the private key
and afterwards nothing was working.

Deleting the ~/.config/kdeconfig folder and killing the running process help to
get a new configuration and start again pairing everything.
The root cause is still unknown it happenned around 20210625
