About point1:
As you commented above, quick file open dialog box has advantage compared to
the file filter  on project panel to search file (can filter files by
combination of paths and names by less key typing). Thus, it has a benefit if
the concept of quick file open dialog box also considers the use case to search
a file from many candidates. Because it's very hard to find a target file from
many candidate shown at random, the sorted file list is very helpful for user.
If you are afraid the performance to show the dialog box, I think it's not
necessary to sort the file list automatically always, it's enough to provide
button or menu to sort when user necessary by manual.
Other than this, I'm going to submit some requests about file filtering of
project panel later.

About point2 - 4:
The problems may be resolved by using project panel (although I personally
still believe it will gives user more option to operate if it's implemented).

These request is not urgent, but I think it's great if Kate development team
considers it on some day.
