I tested as you described with the Windows and AppImage 21.04.2 and daily
builds (Linux = Lubuntu). I get only a crash with the Windows 21.04.2 version.
All other version doesn't get a crash when I open a new project with new. But
the backtrace is not showing anything interesting.
Please test with the daily build AppImage to see if the crash happen as well:
