After some more googling, it seems that this behavior is intended and the
previews now no longer show when hovering over the task items, only when
hovering the thumbnails. I find the new behavior annoying, but managed to
restore the old one by creating a custom plasmoid with the old code; this is an
acceptable workaround for me.
