Nevermind. I re-installed all of the KDE packages. Problem vanished after I
reset the Setting to Default layout, then Random. Everything works.
I'm somewhat curious. I wonder how such behavior can be reproduced. Could be a
corrupt .config/kmahjonggrc? I noticed a double virgule in the path:
"Layout_file=/usr/share/kmahjongg/layouts//totem.desktop"
