I'm using lightdm which works as it should. The problem is elsewhere. What I can say now is that Plasma-5.18 also does work here. The logouts take longer than with 5.17 but in the end they succeed. So I guess that our logout-problem has a different cause. That's probably why the update to FW-5.82.0 solved yours but not mine. I suspect changes in the code for shutdown between 5.18 and 5.19 to be responsible for the freezes/hangs in my case. Seems, they are not compatible with my system-V-system.
