#1 is a bug which we can and should fix. :) See Bug 415019.
#2 is not really applicable as it is a different type of UI. Consistency
between the same things in different contexts is desirable; consistency between
different things in a similar context generally is not.
For #3 I understand what you mean, but I think if we fixed Bug 415019, it would
probably solve 90% of the problem without adding a whole ton of new custom
code.
Marking as a duplicate of Bug 415019, and once that's fixed, we can see if
there's anything left to do to improve things.
