With the May 01 5.0.0-prealpha (git d2806ec) appimage, I don't see that at all.
With the 4.4.3 appimage, for each of the following pattern locations:
Pattern docker, Toolbar fill pattern, Brush Editor pattern,
the pattern name is truncated as described, when the pattern location is first
opened after krita is started. But after any other pattern is selected then no
pattern name in that location is truncated for the rest of the session.
