Same issue on an ARM64 system (Hardkernel Odroid N2 running Debian Buster).
2 other workarounds for the issue to help solve it :
- press tab to unselect the password field, but the CPU load will go up again
if you select it again
- kill the kscreenlocker_greet process (using ssh or vt for example) the ksm
server will restart it and this time without the high CPU load
It looks like SDDM has the same issue BTW.
