I'm having the same issue. It began right after upgrading to 20.12.3-r1
(current stable version on Gentoo Linux amd64).

I can reproduce this as follows:
- open Dolphin -> RAM usage ~25MB
- click on ISO image -> Ark opens up, RAM usage of Dolphin jumps to ~550MB
- right-click -> Open with Ark -> RAM usage stays at ~25MB

I thinks it's worth mentioning that yesterday, when I noticed this, three
Dolphin instances were consuming ~5GB and plasmashell at the same time was also
consuming large amounts of RAM (~2GB). Maybe this is related somehow.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon, with Dolphin being such an important part of
everyday KDE use.
