The widget placement unfortunately to be expected due to technical differences.
The wayland version is more "correct" for the applet sizes, they need a onetime
resizing.
A pending patch will store widgets per-resolution and might ease future
transitions.
The Kickoff having the misaligned textfield isn't expected though, so lets make
a new bug for that.
