Perhaps the bug can be closed because there is probably not enough interest from other users. Anyway, when i looked at current version of digikam (6.4) and the Light Table tool, the comparison of metadata does not work as i imagined. I thought there could be a possibility to either highlight differences or only show different metadata. With possibly one click on a select box. Also filtering of metadata as you mentioned previously has changed. Here i don't understand how it works. It is clear how to use the text input. I just don't know what is the purpose of the select box, it does not change anything. This feature is not well documented.
