I have the same issue, but I was able to work around it by first installing the
https://binary-factory.kde.org/view/Windows%2064-bit/job/kdeconnect-kde_Release_win64/
(so not the nightly) and pairing my phone that way. After I reinstall the
master version, I still don't get any indicator (while I see the indicator
process is running), but I do see notifications, have remote control,...
I can also use the kdeconnect-cli app to send commands to the phone
