Yes, right now all apps die when KWin crashes, so it sounds like that's what's
happening. Can you get a backtrace for KWin? Please add ExternalSizeMax=6G" to
the file /etc/systemd/coredump.conf, then reboot, then reproduce the crash,
then attach the backtrace, receieved using coredumpctl as outlined in
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl
