I don't think there's a problem with .tiff's 'as such', I have some TIFF files
indexed.
You can list the tags embedded in a .tiff with 'exiftool'
You can see info that baloo has extracted with 'balooshow -x' (although I'm
guessing there's more...) and do a search from the command line with
baloosearch.
Not sure what your "... but the folders will be empty" means here, which
application are you using?
