Okay so you're seeing a bug in the SMB ioslave then. Moving this over there.
FWIW it works for me. I have mine set to 5 MB and I see previews on my Samba
share for files under that size.
What version of Dolphin are you using? And what distro are you using? For
future reference, these are good pieces of information to add to the initial
bug report. :)
