            Bug ID: 432405
Summary: Photo Meta Data such as "Data Photographed" Not
                    Showing Up
           Product: dolphin
           Version: 19.12.3
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: view-engine: details mode
          Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: hapog94...@mado34.com
                CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When I choose "date photographed" in the details view for non-corrupt JPEG (and
possibly other type) photos, this column is blank even though there is valid
metadata embedded in these photos. I've read other posts on this for hours, and
nothing helps, including changing the baloo setting for indexing files. This
behavior was also observed in version 20, however I can't use that from
Discover on my setup for some reason and it has other issues.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate to a folder of photos, jpeg for example
2. Change view to detail view mode
3. Enable column "date photographed".

OBSERVED RESULT

All are empty, even with valid metadata.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 20.04
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I tried reinstalling baloo, to no effect. The running of

balooctl status

yields a running baloo instance as desired. Running

balooshow image.jpg

shows all of the desired metadata, which is peculiar and probably very
significant.

Let me know how I can help.
