When I log in 2 users, the sound of the respective desktop starts after the switch and the other one stops. This is independent of digiKam, the same behavior with 2 Firfox or Chromium instances. If I start digiKam and play a video and switch to the other user / desktop, the sound stops, I can then easily play a different sound on the desktop that has been switched.
