Meld is not officially supported for an inline comparison as it belong to the
Gnome ecosystem (kdiff3 and kompare does). As you said, kio-extras does not
solve this (and it shouldn't).
The solution should be detecting if kio-fuse is present and Meld could handle
it; moving to wishlist.
