Bug ID: 429168 Summary: wayland: taskmanager and icons-only taskmanager only show pinned, no running Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager Assignee: h...@kde.org Reporter: 1i5t5.dun...@cox.net CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 On live-git (from the gentoo/kde overlay) for plasma/frameworks/apps. Only on wayland (X is fine), neither taskmanager nor icons-only taskmanager show anything but pinned apps. I've just in the last week or so found running on wayland stable enough to start seriously switching over, =:^), but that means I don't really have a clue if or when it regressed, except that other bugs suggest it /was/ working at some point and the lack of anything like this reported recently suggests it may be currently working for others, tho wayland users are likely still rather rare compared to X users so it may be just that. Perhaps related, perhaps not, attempting to do window-list from the activity mouse actions gives me nothing. It could be due to the same root bug not getting a window list to show, or it could be unrelated. Current 5.10-rcX-git kernel, mesa 20.2.2, qt 5.15.1 (patched for the 5.15.1 multi-monitor issues), older amdgpu radeon polaris11 graphics on an older still amd fx6100 series cpu, llvm 11.0.0 (and I see 10.0.1 still installed also), gcc-10.2.0, two 4k 3840x2160 75-inch TVs as monitors, side-by-side layout. Icons-only is what I normally run, showing all windows from all activities and desktops, no pinned and no grouping, in a (transparent) dedicated auto-hide panel with no other plasmoids. At first I thought the panel was missing, but context-clicking on it showed the usual context menu for both the panel and the icons-only taskmanager, so it was there. I then tried adding new instances of both taskmanager plasmoids to an activity, which is when I realized the pinned icons were showing up, since I didn't have any on my default instance. But the new instances showed no running windows either, only the pinned, and the fact that the same behavior happened in the activity as in the panel says it's not a panel-specific issue. I tried reverting to stock breeze, as well as oxygen, plasma-deco, as well. Of course the panels weren't transparent any longer, but it didn't fix the missing running-window icons. And for several days since I first noticed this, I've been doing system and kde updates, restarting plasma in both wayland and X (CLI login no *DM, startx or dbus-run-session from the CLI), updating kernels a couple times, setting up and reconfiguring various other elements for my new wayland setup, with no change on this front. So whatever the problem is seems to be sticky, and it's time to file a bug. Obviously as I'm running live-git kde, I can throw any testing patches in and see what turns up, if need be. If you tell me what QT_LOGGING_RULES to set I can try that too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
