            Bug ID: 364511
Summary: Changing an icon for a file or folder does not
                    function.
           Product: dolphin
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: kevinlekil...@gmail.com

First, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, I've searched and could not find this
exact issue.

--------
Issue:

When trying to change an icon for a file or folder through the properties menu
in Dolphin, the icon does not change.

------------
Solution:

The problem is because one or all of these files/folders are not created
automatically by Dolphin (Dolphin will append errors to ~/.xsessions-errors if
these files/folders do not exist):

~/.local/share/applications/
~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
~/.config/mimeapps.list
~/.local/share/mime/
~/.local/share/mime/packages/

Manually creating all these files/folders fixes the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Dolphin.
2. Right click on a folder.
3. Click Properties.
4. Click the icon under General.
5. Select an icon.
6. Click OK.

Actual Results:
The original icon is still in use.

Expected Results:
The new icon should be used.

This issue affects every distributions I've tested: Arch Linux, OpenSuse
Tumbleweed, Manjaro, KDE Neon.
