Please make sure that the KDE 5 desktop is installed. Also make sure that the Breeze icon set is installed, oxygen may be required too, but I think Breeze sufficies. Search the forum for more information as I don't konw the required packages. Kick the Ubuntu packagers for doing a bad job. 2. Kdenlive requires OpenGL.
