I have the same problem since 20.08.0. Not having found this bugreport I have
posted on on my own, which I will mark as duplicate to this one:

OBSERVED RESULT:
only when $ZDOTDIR is set the sourcing fails.
When manually sourcing in the konsole panel it works as expected.
Standalone Konsole works as expected.
