--- Comment #6 from Ben <ben...@protonmail.com> ---
In Kubuntu, I also tried using the EFI boot partition but it still requires me
to enter commands into grub when I restart the computer.

~$ sudo update-grub2
[sudo] password for user:
Sourcing file `/etc/default/grub'
Sourcing file `/etc/default/grub.d/init-select.cfg'
Generating grub configuration file ...

Found Windows Boot Manager on /dev/nvme0n1p2@/efi/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
Adding boot menu entry for UEFI Firmware Settings

~$ sudo grub-install /dev/nvme0n1p2
Installing for i386-pc platform.
grub-install: warning: File system `fat' doesn't support embedding.
grub-install: warning: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed
in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and
their use is discouraged..
grub-install: error: will not proceed with blocklists.
