This also still happens to me. Unfortunately, Gideon's workaround of keeping
the Meta key pressed doesn't work for me, so instead I have to try and be quick
enough. If I'm not, I can right-click on an activity pager and select "Show
Activity Manager…" to hide the activity bar. I think a lot of confusion might
already be avoided if the activity manager had a close button or if it would
close on clicking on an empty part of its surface or somewhere else on the
screen.
