Ah, now I see why I thought that the fill tool didn't work. In 2.9.11 you press the "E" key to set the erase mode. Then you can see in the toolbar that the "Set eraser mode" icon is selected and the Blending Mode switched from "Normal" to "Erase". In 3.0 only the "Set eraser mode" icon is selected and the Blending Mode says "Normal" when you press the "E"/erase key. I'm sure there is a reason for this change, but what is it?
