I don't have this issue, but my "Switch Users" item in the menu keeps
disappearing: Bug 423526.
Could you run plasmashell on the command line? You can do this with
`plamsashell --replace. Once you've done that please click on the
non-functional button and attach any output that appears in the terminal
window.
