After updating KDE Neon, now sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and it logs out as in my Arch host system. After several tries, my guess is that time matters. If I start the VM, log in, and then immediately turn it off, it works. If, however, I wait a bit or use the VM for a while, shutdown fails and I get a log out.
