I was surprised to find there was no option to disable grid snapping in
plasma5. I definitely support the feature request.
The workaround (I set the LayoutManager.defaultAppletSize.width and height to
10) works for me in plasma5. Ideally the grid pitch would be exposed as a
slider user control, and enabling/disabling grid snapping as a checkbox in a
configuration panel GUI.
