            Bug ID: 421106
Summary: Cannot set Thunderbird Mail as default email client
           Product: systemsettings
           Version: 5.18.4
          Platform: Kubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: sif...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When trying to replace KMail with Thunderbird Mail as my default e-mail client
in System Settings -> Applications -> Default Applications, I can select
Thunderbird, but my choice is not saved. KMail is not installed on my system.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate to System Preferences -> Applications -> Default Applications ->
E-Mail Client
2. Selected "Use a different E-Mail client"
3. Click on "..."
4. Choose Thunderbird

OBSERVED RESULT
Thunderbird is not shown in the text field. I can press the "Apply" button, but
when I leave the tab or close the settings window my choice is lost. When
entering the tab the next time, "Use KMail as preferred e-mail client" is
selected again.

EXPECTED RESULT
I would except that my chosen e-mail client is shown in the text field and that
my choice is preserved.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 20.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When I leave the tab without saving (i.e. pressing on "Apply") I am prompted to
save or discard my changes. So the system seems to notice that I made a change.
However, the change is not shown or preserved. BTW: Changing the default file
manager from Dolphin to Thunar in the tab below works fine. This change is
preserved without any problems.
