What I did not anticipate is that it seems *many many* users removed the file and had a look at the ftp location, and then tried also the other *older* installer that still always installed to (x86). However, *all* installers on kate-editor.org were always 64bit. I removed the older installer now, and linked to download.kde.org. If the installer messes up the proper installer folder, then I would say this is a very minor issue. And given we have more pressing issues, I think it is not worth following this, maybe it's even an NSIS installer issue upstream.
