Why the the Stem-and-Leaf plots are worth implementing?

"The stem-and-leaf can be examined in more detail than the histogram because
the bars of a histogram can hide distances between points within them. However,
gaps such as these can be detected in stem-and-leaf displays because they
retain the numeric values of the data. Both the histogram and stem-and-leaf
displays are to some degree simplifications of distributions, but the numeric
values in the stem-and-leaf reduce the possibility of oversimplification."
