            Bug ID: 419682
Summary: Stop turning KDE into GNOME
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: master
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
          Reporter: smih...@gmail.com
                CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I like the stability boost that Plasma has seen in the recent years, but please
stop turning (what used to be) KDE into GNOME.

In comparison to GNOME, KDE used to be highly customizable and powerful. At the
beginning it seemed that Plasma lacks many features simply because no-one took
time to port them, but after more than 10 years it seems that this was more of
a design decision to keep UI simple and intuitive.

I believe this is the wrong decision. UI in general and specifically of the
System Settings module might stay simple by default, but users should be able
to configure it to have all the options shown (something as simple and advanced
mode in VLC and TexStudio).

There are now bizarre cases with no or very-hacky workarounds such as not being
able to change the "week starts with" in calendar widget (#419681), not being
able to configure groups (#365787), or very limited options of session
management (what happens when you log-out), just to name a few things that all
used to be implemented.
